Monthly Best Buys

A little late but it’s beginning to feel a lot more like summer with these hot days, sunny evenings and pimms on tap. So my buys have been purchased with forthcoming festivals and holidays in mind.

The printed trouser

I always struggle when it comes to summer and finding things to wear as I’m a big fan of a winter wardrobe. These cropped polka dot printed trousers I’ve decided will be my saviour they are so comfy and look super cool with converse and a band tee.

Oh wow for Orange

Coloured mascara’s are fast becoming their own mini trend at present. I saw this one by MAC on one of my fav youtubers videos and I really liked the look so thought I would give it a go.  I wore it on a night out with a MAC lipstick in colour ‘so chaud’ and clashed with a red printed slogan tee. There are also a few different colours available on the high street including Miss Baby Roll by L’Oreal which is pretty cool, I also purchased this in shade Teal. Coloured mascara’s  are a great way to add individuality and a sense of high fashion to an outfit. They will also be great for festivals.

A Festival Staple

The suede short is a very versatile piece and will be great for upcoming latitude festival. The loose fit will be flattering on the legs and is a great alternative to denim and more practical than a skirt for all the moshing. Again these will be the perfect partner for a band tea or a cute floral bardot top. I can’t wait to rock these with lots of fringing, boots and a festi beer!

Sweet Heart Florals

This floral summer dress from Topshop is so pretty, I love the pastel blue colour and the sweetheart neckline. It is the perfect summer dress and I can edge it up in the evening with a leather jacket or keep girlie with cute sandals and a tan cross body bag.

Golden Wonder

My final purchase this month was these gold boots I bought them from a charity shop for £4.99 and I tell they were originally from H&M. They are in great condition and fit like a dream I can’t wait to dress them down with light wash denim and team them with a black jumpsuit or dress to add interest and individuality to an evening look.

Granny’s Attic

Granny chic is a look inspired by things you could find rooting around your Granny’s closet/ or attic but updated with a youthful twist. This look is all about clashing prints, over sized knits, big glasses, drop earrings and of course socks and sandals!!

This look has been on the catwalks at Mui Mui , Mulberry, Chloé and Gucci A/W17, which means is sticking around so pick up those floral midi dresses now ready to layer in A/W with ribbed tights, over sized knits and fur coats.

April’s Best Buys..

The Gingham Piece

Everybody has been going crazy for one print this season.. Gingham! It has been all over fashion blogs and bloggers insta’s as well as in pretty much every high st store. I must admit I have fallen under the gingham spell myself. It can be a very girlie and playful print with hints back to primary school dresses and super cute printed picnic blankets. Gingham print can also be quite masculine with the monochrome on styles like the gingham print trousers and shirts. For this reason and many more I needed a piece for my wardrobe. I found the perfect addition with a gingham tea dress from NewLook, it’s a super flattering shape and perfect for summer. I love the embroidered florals, the bow detail on the sleeves and the fact that it has pockets!!

Jamie Jeans

One thing I have been wanting to add to my wardrobe for a while has been a pair of high-waisted jeans with bloody belt loops and I have had real difficulty getting a pair. That is until I found Jamie Jeans from Topshop. They fit so nice, as soon as I put them on I was in love. Belts are having a bit of a moment right now so that’s why I wanted belt loops. Black Jamie Jeans, a cool buckle belt, band t-shirt and denim or leather jacket and your sorted!

The Sequins  Skirt

Leeds was so good for shopping as I mentioned in my last post and the H & M was no exception. It had loads of choice with great pieces. I picked up a few pieces but the sequin skirt has to be the best. It’s a muted silver so almost grey  it works well styled with a cool band t-shirt tucked into it and a leather jacket over the top. I wore black sheer tights but dotty or fish net tights would work well for a grungy glam look.

Red Denim

I have about 3 black denim skirts and a couple of blue (all different of course) so when I saw this red denim skirt I was unsure if I would wear it. I took a gamble however and ordered it and I bloody love it. I have worn it a couple of times to a gig and more casually for work, it looks so good with a white slogan t-shirt or band t-shirt with a leather jacket. The red also works well with stripes and gingham t-shirts or bardot tops.

Eagle Buckle Belt

One of the main reason I wanted a pair of high-waisted jeans was to show off this eagle belt buckle I love the quirky design and how the buckle sits flat. Buckle belts are a quite way to elevate a plain outfit adding interest to an outfit. This buckle also draws the eye to the smallest part of your waist.

Shoes shoes shoes

Last but not least my most recent purchase and my absolute favourite these (pic below) Topshop loafer style mules. They have a gorgeous print on them with the gold bar detail, they remind me of the Gucci prince town loafers which I love. I wore them the other day and they are actually pretty comfy. They look great with jeans but would also work with a cute dress for the coming summer months.

I love these babies!! @Topshop

Friends , Vodka & Magic

Bank holiday weekend is here and oh how I wish I was heading back up north for some bank hol cocktails. Myself and some friends were in Leeds just a few weekends ago and it was bloody brill. So I just thought I would share what we did and some great places we went.

Four of us headed up North from ye old Norfolk..My lovely boyfriend offered to drop myself and my sister at Leeds on his way to Manchester. We were going to meet up with a friend for shopping, food and cocktails! After a cheeky stop off at road side OK diner to re-fresh we arrived.

Diner Girl

As the boys headed on to Manchester us girls got to the important stuff we headed to Leeds Trinity centre and had a quick scout about before grabbing some food. Where else would you go for a pre night out meal than Nandos, and it was great (all about the macho peas.)

We then pumped ourselves up for the task of getting ready, which surprisingly didn’t take as long as anticipated so we managed to head out early enough to try a few places. The first place we went was Sky Lounge which apart from having a really random weird smell was pretty cool. We sat outside with our Pornstar martinis and had a proper catch up.

Screen Shot 2017-04-16 at 10.29.16.png

My absolute fav

After we headed to The Alchamist which had a strange location being inside the shopping centre, however it was the my favourite place of the night. The menu was crazy with loads of choice each drink had a twist to it. I had a ‘Tickle Me Pink‘ which included gin and nettle stings, it gave a strange sensation like the name suggests a tickling on the tounge. Followed by ‘Bubble Bath‘ which was just insane and literally kept bubbling right over the glass. The ‘Colour Changing One‘ was also really cool with the description of ingredients including ‘magic’ It came in a glass and two test tubes which made it changed the colour and smoke.

Luckily we managed to get a table outside, as I don’t think it would have been as much fun if we had to stand at the super busy bar all night. The cocktails were so much fun and I really loved the look and style of the bar. I would love to go back and try more of the cocktails and maybe even the food. A couple of drinks later we ended in Revolution de cuba which isn’t really my scene for music but was actually a good laugh and you get a hula necklace!

With my Bubble Bath

Sunday we dragged ourselves out of bed for more shopping we went back to Trinity and visited the mecca of all shops Leeds Primark it was bloody huge. Newlook, Topshop and H&M were also on the list. After spending a million pounds we got some lunch. I always wanted to try a crepe and that was day I finally did we went to Crepe Affaire I had a Breakfast one which was just what I needed and topped off a great weekend.

The next big… Trend

Spring is here and the high street shops have so much to offer for this season. There is a massive buzz around gingham, stripes, pink, red accessories and florals but which ones are worth investing in and will be sticking around for a/w!

Of course as expected florals are huge for spring, summer with high st shops offering a garden of ditsy, embroidered, bright and oriental florals. Even better they will be sticking around for a/w, especially black based florals, as seen at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi , Erdem,  Mary Katrantzou and Mulberry. So no need to pack them away at the end of the season, just make sure you invest in some key pieces to keep you going through to a/w that you won’t get bored with in a hurry!

Oh my Gee.. It’s the Slogan tee

This season has seen the return of the slogan tee which has been creeping in for a while but has really stuck this season. With empowering pro women slogans like “Femme Forever” , “Girl Gang” and “Boy Bye” seen at Topshop. Love them or hate them they are here to stay with slogan’s becoming bigger and crazier than ever focusing on political issues and tounge in cheek quotes with inspiration from Ashish and King of the slogan tee House of Holland.

Red Accessories

From the Gucci red loafers myself and everyone has been lusting over to the smallest details like a choker, the brighter and bolder the better. At the moment red accessories are key and have been used for colour clashing against hot pink and blue. Moving forward into a/w it will be all about colour blocking. This means head to toe red in different shades and textures. Prada, Roksanda Ilincic, Preen and Fendi have all been rocking this, so invest and keep hold of those red accessories.

Flute, bell and ruffle sleeves are all over the high street right now and will be developing in a/w. Not only will ruffles feature heavily on sleeves but also head to toe. Bell and flute sleeves will become bigger to give outfits a dreamy free flow feeling. This was seen all over the catwalk at Molly Goddard, House of Holland and Alexander McQueen. So for a trend that will carry you through to a/w look for beautiful fluted and floaty sleeves and ruffles, ruffles, ruffles!!

March’s Top Buys

The rain has been pouring these last couple of days but the sun is beginning to make an appearance. So I thought I would share with you lucky readers my monthly top best purchases of the month ready for spring. ♡

Primark £7.00

The Red Bag

This bag is a beauty. I’m not usually one for bright colours especially red, however red accessories are everywhere at the moment and I really fell in love with this bag. The cute Bee on the front is what really did it for me. I also thought this bag looked much more expensive than what I paid for it. This bag will be great to add a pop of colour to my usual all black style and as a cross body bag it will be great for the day or evening.

Floral Dress

I love florals more than anything and this dress is everything, beautiful peony print florals, a cute ruffled neck and flute sleeves. The dress is chiffon with a black slip dress underneath. It’s the perfect length and the sleeves are seriously flattering and give it a floaty, boho feel. I’m planning to wear this on a night out soon with sheer dotty tights and maybe some black shoes with stud detailing to edge it up a bit (can’t be too girly.)

@Topshop £49.00

Beautiful Sleeves

Embroidered Shirt

As I have said before I love Zara and rarely leave there empty-handed. I think I literally walked in, saw this, picked it up and bought it. I just love the embroidered floral details they are perfect for spring. The collar (or lack of)  also caught my eye as it makes it appear much more casual than other shirts I have. My sisters thought I looked like Shakespeare due to the massive balloon sleeves but I’ll take that. Who would have thought Shakespeare as a style icon?

I wore this shirt with its huge balloon sleeves the other day casually with light denim jeans and silver boots. I think it would also look super cute with a denim skirt and over sized sunnies in the summer.

Shirt @Zara £25.99

Another Bag

I’m loving small cross body bags at the moment and have been lusting after a Gucci Soho disco bag, unfortunately these are a little out of my price range so I’ve been looking for a high street version. I have been looking for a while with no luck until I came across this one in Oxford st Topshop. The boxy shape and double zip reminded me of the Gucci bag so I had to have it. All it need is a black leather tassel to complete the look. This Topshop beauty is also real leather so it’s good quality and a perfect size for going out.

@Topshop £29.00

Dew lipstick

I have been wanting a new lipstick for a while and as i have almost every shade of red and purple I wanted something a bit different and more daring. After swatching a few lipsticks in MAC I came across Dew. It’s a really lovely soft but vibrant colour, pale blue with a hint of lilac. I haven’t worn it out yet as I’m afraid of being called ‘blue lips’  if you watched ‘Celebs Go Dating’ you will know what I’m referring too. So I will probably brave it once that dies down!  I think it will be great for festival season and just spring/ summer in general.

@MAC £16.50

And Finally..

Snake skin buckle belt. I’m loving belts at the moment and this one is amazing I saw it online and fell in love. It’s so pretty and I can’t wait to wear it with a denim skirt and band tee!!

Buckle Belt @Newlook £7.99

The Must Have Accessory

Like most girls I love an accessory or two to really bring an outfit to life and at the moment one of my faves has to be the skinny scarf. They have  a 70’s rock n roll appeal  and are great for building an outfit around. I realise these aren’t to everyone’s style but I’m hoping this post with show some great ways to style this versatile piece, which I just can’t get enough of.

The All Black One – This one is good for beginners and is the one I wear most often either to casual down a really dressy outfit or just add interest to a skinny jeans band t-shirt combo.  A skinny scarf gives the choker effect which is on trend right now without looking too much like everyone else. The black skinny scarf also looks great with printed dresses like florals, stars or stripes. There are loads of band tees on the hight st at the moment so this is a great accessory to pair with one of theses for  a bit of a I’m with the band look.

Black skinny scarf @Newlook

The Leopard Print One – I love to wear this one with an all black outfit to create a vocal point and add interest without going OTT. I have also worn this with an all black outfit and then clashed it with snake-skin boots (I bloody love to clash). It’s a nice subtle way to include leopard print with looking like Cat Slater!

Th Silk one – If you’re tinkling about adding a skinny scarf to your collection then a printed silk one is a must and I think my favourite , I love the pyjama style print it adds a real relaxed vibe to an outfit i feel and looks great opposite a leather biker jacket. Silk skinny scales are the most popular and come in many patterns so it should be easy to find the perfect one.

Similar available @ASOS

The Velvet One – This one is more luxe and I would probably wear this going out with a black bardot dress , or denim or mesh skirt with a black eyelash lace detail cami top. Alternatively this would be great for a festival dressed down with a denim short and of course my favourite thing…  A band tee!

Similar style available @Riverisland

LFW Festival

AAaahh…! Back to reality after a week off work and a beautiful weekend in London. Amongst the shopping on Oxford st and the cocktails in Shoreditch I attended the London Fashion Week Festival.

As a lover of fashion I have always followed the catwalk shows and especially London fashion week, so to get the chance to attend a show was a dream come true. My sister and I attended on the saturday as soon as we got there we received our free tote bag designed by Vivienne Westwood we then entered the show space.

Huishan Zhang was the designer whose creations floated down the catwalk. He was born in  China and is now London-based. This comes through in his style with an East meets West feel with oriental inspired simple florals ad pearls mixed with a relaxed london vibe with the denim pieces.

I love love love this fur jacket!!

There was a real buzz as we entered the space and took our seats. The lights dimmed then shot back on again beaming as the models walked out to soft music. This reflected the soft feminine pieces of the collection including lace, pearls, layers of frills and soft silhouettes. The music then switched up a notch as the more dazzling party piece came out including a beautiful ostrich fur jacket and bright yellow dress. It was really exciting watching the models walk down the catwalk and seeing first hand the detail of luxury fashion pieces.

I would definitely love to go again and think it is well worth the extra to get a seat on the front row for an ultra luxe experience.

Welcome To The West

The wild west inspired collection from Henry Holland showing us that the Western style we have been loving this Spring will be going forward into AW. Yay for the buckled belt which I have been championing a lot this season. This collection had everything about fashion I love – fringing, star print, checks, fishnet tights, snake-skin and brilliant boots!

Screen Shot 2017-02-23 at 20.29.59.png

This jacket is everything

Hello flares

Fishnet tights and cowboy boots were a serious fashion combination, who would have guessed?  Cowboy boots were on pretty much every look and will be going straight to the top of my wish list for next season.

True to form there were some Henry Holland speciality slogan pieces  “Bitches” and “Daddy” were key slogans throughout. What they mean I have no idea but they looked bloody good.

Ye-Ha “Bitches”

Omg cherry cowboy boots!!
